“It was intense, but we gave it our best”: Andrew Tay

What’s better than winning a national competition? Winning a regional one! Our undergrad students came in first runners-up at the regional finals of Proctor & Gamble’s ASEAN Business Challenge 2014, after winning the national finals in April.

Team Singapore, comprising of our undergrads Andrew Tay and Lionel Tan, with students from NUS, NTU and SMU, beat teams from the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam to clinch the first runners-up slot. Team Indonesia won the competition, and Team Vietnam came in second runners-up.

The P&G challenge is a three-day competition in which finalists play the role of an ASEAN leader for one of P&G’s multi-billion brands and propose marketing, sales, finance and market research solutions. Teams are equipped with knowledge through training in various business areas and get an opportunity to meet real consumers through field work. For the regional rounds, the teams created digital marketing campaigns for the beauty brand Olay, and pitched these to a distinguished panel.

“I’m grateful for this opportunity to represent NUS Business School and Singapore in the Regional Finals of the competition. It was intense, but we gave it our best. I also thank my NUS professors and peers for their support,” says the excited third year NUS BBA student, Andrew Tay.

Congratulations, we’re proud of you!
