The ISCA Scholarship is awarded to students who have outstanding academic results and performed well in their various CCAs. The ISCA is the national accountancy board of Singapore.

Also at the Awards, our alumnus Sebastian Joseph Widodo (BAC 2013), who was the valedictorian of his graduating class, clinched the award “Top Candidate of the Singapore QP for Year 2015” for achieving the highest total average score in the SQP (Singapore Qualifying Programme) papers.

Administered by ISCA, the Singapore QP was launched in June 2013 by the Singapore Accountancy Commission and provides a pathway for graduates of all disciplines to become Chartered Accountants of Singapore, the highest professional designation conferred by ISCA.

Sebastian said that the BAC programme gave him a strong foundation to take on the SQP. In fact, he relied on his old textbooks and lecture notes from his BAC days to prepare for the exams.

“Without strong foundation in core modules such as financial reporting, assurance, tax and risk management that we took in NUS Business School, it will be extremely challenging to pass the SQP exams that have advanced topics,” said Sebastian.

Wan Xin says the award motivates her further, “The accounting modules I have taken are very meaningful and well-designed – I have really learnt a lot from them. I am truly delighted to be awarded the ISCA scholarship as it serves as a recognition of my hard work. I will strive for greater heights in both my studies and my career.”

On their achievement, Assoc Prof Chng Chee Kiong, Vice-Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Accounting said, “It fills me with pride to see our students being recognised for their outstanding academic and co-curricular achievements. Scholarships, such as the one awarded by the ISCA, opens a world of opportunities for our students as Singapore transforms itself into a leading global accountancy hub.”
